Agnihotra Timings
Agnihotra Time Sheets
Agnihotra must be performed exactly at sunrise and sunset, so you will need correct timings for your area. We will send an Agnihotra time sheet to anyone who requests it, free of charge. Normally we will email it. If you're placing an order with us, we will enclose it with your order.
People sometimes need time sheets for additional locations, for use during vacations and other travel. IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE GIVE US ADVANCE NOTICE, so that you'll be sure to have your timings when you need them. If we are mailing time sheets to you, please allow us 48 hours to generate the time sheets, and allow adequate time for the Postal Service to deliver it. It takes up to eight days for first class mail to reach the West Coast from here, so please plan accordingly. We don't want you to miss Agnihotra for lack of timings!
Timings are based on the longitude and latitude of the location where you perform Agnihotra. Ideally, you should have a time sheet for every place you do Agnihotra, because the timing can change approximately one minute for every fifteen miles of distance.
Calculate your own timings
For those that wish to calculate their own timings you can download the program here:
Agnihotra Timings Program
There is also an Agnihotra Timings iPhone app.
The timings are calculated based on when the healing energies of the sun are upon you, not when the sun first appears on the horizon. The difference between the two is about 4 minutes. One should begin the mantras at the time on the sheet. A watch or clock with seconds can be set accurately to the Atomic Clock in Colorado by calling 303-499-7111. You will hear the recording give the times in Universal Time in 24 hour format. That will be confusing, but since you already know the hour, concentrate on the minutes and seconds only. Radio controlled clocks (also called atomic clocks) keep accurate time, and are inexpensive.
The program requires the latitude and longitude which can be found through http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html
This is the site for latitudes and longitudes. An alternative would be mapping programs, Google Earth etc.
Email if you have any questions.
